Kano: Man arrested for alleged plot to use baby’s eyes for ritual

Must read

Police in Kano State have arrested Malam Yahaya, an elderly resident of the Utoro community, for allegedly orchestrating a scheme to abduct a baby and gouge out the child’s eyes for ritual purposes.

Yahaya’s arrest by operatives from Bompai Police Station followed the detention of Kabir Sani, a man he allegedly hypnotized to carry out the act.

Sani was caught in the process and subsequently led officers to Yahaya’s residence, where they found incriminating items, including a calabash with mysterious inscriptions, white and red clothing, and various charms.

In a recorded statement, Sani, a 25-year-old from Utoro, explained how Yahaya manipulated him.

“I went to Malam Yahaya because I wasn’t feeling well. He gave me medicine with water and instructed me to use my urine for three days.

“Later, he gave me a perfume and another substance that completely clouded my mind. I couldn’t think for myself and followed all his instructions,” Sani recounted.

According to Sani, Yahaya promised him N1 million to find a child whose eyes would be removed for a charm meant to render a soldier invisible.

Sani confessed to attempting to abduct an 8-month-old baby from his sister’s house but ultimately failed.

“I wasn’t myself anymore,” Sani said. “I even told my sister what Malam Yahaya asked me to do. I’m begging everyone to help me and ask Malam to restore my senses.”

Efforts to contact Kano State Police spokesperson Haruna Abdullahi by AFRIPOST for further details were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
