Gov. Fubara signs N1.1trn budget, recognizes Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly

Must read

Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has signed the 2025 budget of N1.1 trillion into law, affirming the legitimacy of the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly.

The governor’s action followed the recent presentation of the budget bill to Oko-Jumbo and two other lawmakers, according to The Nation.

Governor Fubara also declared 27 lawmakers, including Martins Amaewhule, ineligible to serve as legislators in the state.

These lawmakers had defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move the governor asserted disqualifies them from holding their positions.

The decision, however, underscores Fubara’s stance on party loyalty and legislative leadership as he prepares to implement the newly approved budget.
