FCT minister Wike vows to continue demolition of illegal structures despite criticism

Must read

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his commitment to the ongoing demolition of illegal structures in Abuja, dismissing public outcry as mere distractions.

Speaking about his administration’s efforts to restore order in the nation’s capital, Wike assured residents that he remains focused on achieving the desired outcomes for the FCT.

He emphasized that criticism is inevitable for anyone in leadership but stressed that such complaints would not deter him from doing what is necessary.

“People will always complain, but I can assure you, those complaints cannot distract us. I remain focused, and as part of my responsibilities, I will continue to take the necessary actions,” Wike stated.

Unwavering Commitment to Urban Renewal

Defending the demolition initiative, Wike insisted that clearing illegal structures and shanties is essential to Abuja’s urban renewal efforts.

“Regardless of what people say, demolition must proceed. We are targeting shanties and illegal buildings. It doesn’t matter who complains.

“In the end, those same people will acknowledge the positive impact of our actions,” he said.

The minister urged residents to trust his administration’s vision, emphasizing that the focus is on the collective good of Nigerians, not individual interests.

“Our aim is to achieve results that benefit the entire country. Citizens should stay focused and support this process for the betterment of all,” Wike concluded.
