We arrested 916, neutralised 40 bandits, rescued 319 kidnap victims in 2024 – Katsina police

The Katsina State Police Command has reported significant progress in combating crime over the past year, with 916 arrests, the neutralization of 40 bandits, and the rescue of 319 kidnapped individuals.

Speaking during a year-end event in Katsina on Monday, Commissioner of Police Aliyu Musa praised the command’s efforts to enhance public safety and secure lives and property across the state.

Highlighting the command’s achievements, Musa said, “Our tireless commitment to fighting crime has led to a significant reduction in criminal activities in the state.

“We dismantled major criminal networks, recovered stolen items, rescued numerous victims, and brought offenders to justice.”

Key accomplishments shared by the commissioner included the recovery of 2,081 rustled animals, the arrest of 199 armed robbery suspects, and the prosecution of 23 significant drug dealers.

Additionally, 32 vandals and 89 motor vehicle thieves were apprehended, with over 27 stolen vehicles and motorcycles recovered.

He further noted that 573 suspects were arrested for various offenses such as intimidation, criminal force, and breach of trust.

The commissioner emphasized that these successes reflect the bravery and dedication of officers working to keep Katsina’s communities safe.

In infrastructure development, Musa revealed improvements to police facilities, including upgrades to the police clinic, divisional headquarters, and the command’s entrance gate.

These advancements have enhanced the force’s efficiency and emergency response capabilities.

Community policing initiatives were also highlighted as a key strategy, strengthening ties between law enforcement and the public.

Musa expressed gratitude to other security agencies for their collaboration and underscored the importance of synergy in addressing security challenges.

Representing Governor Dikko Radda, Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, acknowledged the state’s ongoing struggles with insecurity and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to tackling these issues.
