In celebration of the New Year, the Benue State Government has announced the distribution of free Zeva Draft Beer to residents as part of the ongoing Benue Carnival festivities.
Governor Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Hyacinth Iormem Alia approved the initiative, which will take place at IBB Square, Makurdi, starting at 5 PM on December 31, 2024.
Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), shared the news in a statement on Tuesday, highlighting the event as a chance for the community to unite and celebrate Benue’s rich cultural heritage.
“This is a wonderful occasion for citizens to enjoy the flavors of Benue and connect with family and friends. We urge everyone to drink responsibly,” the statement emphasized.
The carnival, which had been on hiatus since the tenure of former Governor Gabriel Suswam, has been revived by the current administration to foster cultural pride and positively engage the youth.
The festivities have already kicked off with vibrant parades by socio-cultural groups showcasing colorful costumes through Makurdi on Monday.
