Aliu Yunusa, a prominent herdsmen leader in Ondo State, has been killed by suspected kidnappers after an attack near his ranch at the Ilu-Abo junction in Akure South Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that the assailants initially abducted Yunusa’s wife, but he confronted them and managed to secure her release. Tragically, the kidnappers later returned, overpowered Yunusa, and hacked him to death.
The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers are suspected to be fellow herdsmen attempting to rustle Yunusa’s cattle.
Adeleye said, “The kidnappers first abducted his wife, but he fought them off and rescued her. Unfortunately, they returned and killed him while trying to steal his cows.”
The victim’s body, discovered by fellow herdsmen who raised the alarm, bore multiple machete wounds, and his motorcycle was reportedly set ablaze by the attackers.
Amotekun officers have launched a manhunt, combing nearby forests to track down the perpetrators of the brutal killing.
