Senate signals delay in passing N49.7 trillion 2025 budget

Must read

The Nigerian Senate has indicated that the approval of the N49.7 trillion budget for the 2025 fiscal year may not be finalized until after January 31.

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja.

He explained that budget defence sessions for federal ministries, departments, and agencies are scheduled to begin on January 7.

Additionally, the joint Appropriations Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives are expected to submit their final report on the budget by January 31.

The appropriation bill, initially presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the National Assembly on December 18, has already passed its second reading in both legislative chambers.
