The Nigerian Army has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Shamsiyya Ahadu, accused of supplying arms and ammunition to notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji.

The Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday, December 29.

Ahadu was apprehended alongside her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcyclist, in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on December 28.

During the operation, troops seized 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines reportedly intended for delivery to Turji’s camp.

The operation was carried out by troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West under Operation Hadarin Daji, following intelligence reports about terrorist logistics movements between the Kware and Badarawa communities.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi noted that both suspects are currently under investigation to determine the extent of their involvement in aiding terrorist activities.

Bello Turji, a notorious terrorist operating in Zamfara and neighboring states, has been linked to several violent incidents in the region. Recently, Turji threatened reprisals over the arrest of his suspected associates, claiming they were innocent members of the community.

The Nigerian Army expressed gratitude to the public for their continued support and urged citizens to provide credible intelligence to help eliminate terrorism in the region.

“The success of this operation underscores the importance of cooperation between the military and the public. We encourage citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” the statement concluded.
