The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported significant achievements in internal security operations over the past week, including the arrest of 258 suspects, the neutralization of 148 terrorists, and the rescue of 291 hostages.
Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.
According to Buba, two individuals suspected of transporting ammunition, identified as Danweri and Abubakar Hamza, were apprehended in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The troops also confiscated 146 weapons and 2,599 rounds of ammunition during the operations.
The recovered weapons included two PKT guns, 72 AK-47 rifles, 33 fabricated rifles, and 28 dane guns, alongside various ammunition types, including 1,596 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 636 rounds of NATO-grade ammo.
Additional recovered items included three radios, three vehicles, 36 motorcycles, 40 mobile phones, and ₦1.8 million in cash.
In the Niger Delta, security forces destroyed 66 illegal oil refining sites, 68 crude oil cooking ovens, and 45 storage tanks, among other facilities.
They also seized four speedboats, 150 drums, a generator, and five vehicles, among other equipment.
Recovered resources included 657,470 liters of stolen crude oil, 127,870 liters of illegally refined diesel, and 5,000 liters of kerosene.
The DHQ emphasized that these operations are part of its ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, oil theft, and other forms of criminal activity across the country.
