The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed residents of parts of Abuja about a planned power outage on Sunday, December 31, 2024, due to essential maintenance.

According to TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the interruption will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. as maintenance work is carried out on one of the 60MVA power transformers at the 132/33kV transmission substation in Kukwaba.

The areas affected by the power outage include Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.

Mbah apologized for any inconvenience the outage may cause, especially during the festive season, emphasizing that the maintenance is crucial for ensuring the continued efficient performance of power equipment.

Additionally, she mentioned that similar maintenance work was completed on Saturday at the 60MVA power transformer and its associated switch gears at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, which resulted in a temporary disruption in electricity supply to Gwagwalada and nearby areas from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
