I fought hard to make him Governor – Umahi vows to support Nwifuru

Must read

David Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, has vowed to ensure that his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru, completes his eight-year tenure.

Umahi made this commitment during a visit from members of the Izzi National Youths Forum, who came to pay him Christmas homage at his hometown of Uburu in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

While expressing surprise at the visit, Umahi reaffirmed that Nwifuru, like other former governors of the state, would complete his two-term mandate.

He spoke passionately about the efforts he made to secure Nwifuru’s position, stating, “God forbid that the Izzi people turn against me, but my covenant with God and Nwifuru is that he will serve his full eight years. I fought principalities and powers to make him governor, and now that I have someone by my side, nothing will stop this.”

Umahi further praised Nwifuru’s humility and expressed his unwavering support, declaring, “Until the end of eight years, I am not leaving him.”

The former governor also commended the leadership of the Izzi National Youths Forum for their dedication and for taking the time to celebrate with him, despite the fact that they could have been home celebrating with Nwifuru.

Andrew Elom, the national president of the Izzi National Youths Forum, thanked Umahi for fulfilling his promise to hand over the governorship to an Izzi indigene.

Elom also urged Umahi to continue guiding Nwifuru, ensuring he stays on the right path throughout his tenure.
