Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have apprehended 20 suspects linked to the December 22 attack that claimed 15 lives in Tingbwa Gidan Ado, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Commander of OPSH and General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army disclosed this during a Christmas luncheon for troops in Jos.
He revealed that the suspects were arrested following extensive night operations, which also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
“The arrests and weapons seizure have disrupted the activities of criminal elements, reducing their capacity to carry out further attacks,” Abubakar said.
The commander expressed gratitude to the troops for their dedication to maintaining peace in the state, acknowledging the sacrifices made by those serving far from their families during the festive season.
“Your courage and resilience in the face of duty, even during the yuletide, embody the highest form of sacrifice. Stay disciplined, vigilant, and professional in your conduct, both now and always,” he urged.
Abubakar also thanked the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen.
Olufumi Oloyede, for their strategic guidance, which has contributed to the troops’ success through both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.
