The Anambra State Police have recovered the vehicle of Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency, who was kidnapped on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Onitsha.
AFRIPOST had reported that Azuka was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen while returning home for the Christmas celebrations.
According to a statement issued by the police spokesperson in Anambra, Tochukwu Ikenga, the lawmaker’s abandoned vehicle was found during a rescue operation by officers from the Inland Town Division.
Ikenga confirmed that while Azuka’s whereabouts remain unknown, the police are intensifying their efforts to locate and rescue him.
“Following an intense ongoing operation, police operatives from the Inland Town Division recovered the vehicle of Honourable Justice Azuka, who was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, around 9:20 p.m. along Ugwunapampa Road, Onitsha,” Ikenga said.
The vehicle was found at Upper Iweka Road by the rescue team.
The Police Commissioner, Nnaghe Obono Itam has instructed the team to redouble efforts to secure the lawmaker’s safe return.
