Security operatives in Kogi State have arrested Abdulmuqeet Musari for allegedly luring his friend, Usman Tijani, to a burial ground, robbing him of ₦200,000, and attempting to kill him by slitting his throat.

The harrowing incident occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Tijani, a 200-level Cyber Security student at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) and a Point of Sale (POS) operator, was left critically injured.

A family member, Zainab Avosuahu, described the incident as devastating, calling for justice. “This is a call for justice for my nephew, whom his so-called friend lured into the bush, stole ₦200,000 from, and butchered his throat. He is currently undergoing surgery in Lokoja,” she said.

Musari initially fled the scene but was apprehended by a coordinated effort between local vigilantes and security operatives in a neighboring community in Ekiti State.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Adavi Local Government Chairman, Suleiman Abdulrazaq Acheneje, commended the swift action of the security team.

“The victim was found nearly lifeless around 2 a.m. on Christmas Day in New Zango, Adavi LGA. He was rushed to a hospital in Lokoja, where he is receiving treatment. Despite the suspect’s attempt to escape, he was tracked down and arrested,” Acheneje stated.

Musari has since been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. Meanwhile, Tijani remains in critical condition as he undergoes treatment in Lokoja.
