BREAKING: EFCC nabs Delta Accountant General over alleged N1.3T diversion linked to ex-Governor

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Delta State’s Accountant General, Mrs. Joy Enwa, in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of N1.3 trillion in state funds linked to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The EFCC is probing claims that Okowa misappropriated the 13 percent derivation fund allocated for oil-producing states, with allegations suggesting that he embezzled the funds during his tenure as governor.

In November, Okowa himself was arrested and detained by the EFCC for his involvement in the fund diversion. He was taken into custody at the Port Harcourt division of the commission. The former governor is accused of using his position to amass assets worth up to N1.3 trillion, including shares in UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Company and other investments in the oil sector.

The investigation continues, with Mrs. Enwa and other key individuals, including Ekeruche, the former Director of Finance and Administration (DFA) and Director of Administration at the Government House, already arrested and questioned by the EFCC.
