Christmas: Amotekun arrests 29 suspects, alleged cultist, teenage rapist

In a recent crackdown on crime, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, has arrested 29 suspects, including a 25-year-old alleged cultist and a 16-year-old secondary school student accused of rape.

The alleged cultist, Borokini Ayodeji, claimed he turned to stealing due to hunger and lack of family support.

A trained tailor, Ayodeji confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity and stealing from a government hospital in Akure.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old student was arrested for raping a 24-year-old neighbour at knifepoint.

The suspect expressed remorse, stating, “I don’t know what came over me. I regret my actions.”

Amotekun State Commander Adetunji Adeleye revealed that the arrests were the result of intensified patrols and intelligence gathering.

Adeleye assured residents of the Corps’ commitment to maintaining peace and curbing criminal activities, particularly during the festive season.

Among the arrested suspects were a notorious vehicle and motorcycle theft syndicate member and a serial house breaker who had been jailed twice in the last three years.

To ensure safety during the yuletide season, 1,200 personnel have been deployed across the 18 local government areas of the state.
