Benue governor declares two-week Christmas holiday for civil servants

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has granted civil servants a two-week holiday to celebrate Christmas and New Year, providing them an opportunity to enjoy the festive season with their families.

The break, which begins on December 24 and concludes on January 6, 2025, was announced during a press briefing at the government house in Makurdi.

Governor Alia explained that the extended holiday aims to allow workers to spend quality time with loved ones and engage in productive activities such as farming.

“I encourage you to use this long holiday to focus on agricultural activities to boost food production in the state,” the governor stated.

He also assured residents that critical services, including banking, energy supply, and security operations, would remain functional throughout the holiday period.

Urging the people to uphold the values of love, unity, and peace, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of collective efforts toward the state’s development.
