The Federal Government has announced public holidays for Wednesday, December 25th, and Thursday, December 26th, 2024, to mark Christmas and Boxing Day, as well as Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, for New Year’s Day.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, revealed that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt greetings to all Nigerians and urged them to embrace the festive season as an opportunity to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity.

He highlighted the importance of this time for fostering harmony and strengthening relationships within families and communities.

The Minister also encouraged citizens to stay dedicated to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation for its overall development.

“The Christmas season offers a chance for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us practice kindness and goodwill towards each other, no matter our differences,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo said.

He assured Nigerians of the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace, security, and prosperity across the country.
