Timi Frank, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of using recent Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) revocations in Abuja as a strategy to suppress political opposition.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Frank criticized the revocations, alleging they include properties linked to prominent figures such as former President Muhammadu Buhari, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
He described the actions as a “Nollywood script,” claiming they are a distraction from Wike’s real objective—targeting opposition members who could challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
“We have reliable intelligence that the list of landowners whose C of O has supposedly been revoked is part of Wike’s larger scheme to intimidate opposition figures and pave the way for Tinubu’s re-election,” Frank stated.
He pointed out that both Buhari and Abbas have denied ownership of the properties in question, casting doubt on the credibility of Wike’s actions.
“No one believes that Wike would dare revoke properties belonging to key officials in Tinubu’s government.
“Their names are being used as a facade to justify his demolition activities and land acquisitions that disproportionately affect the poor and vulnerable,” Frank added.
The allegations raise further questions about the motives behind the controversial revocation exercise and its impact on political dynamics in the FCT.
