PDP expels National Vice Chairman

Must read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Ali Odefa, the National Vice Chairman for the South-East, from the party.

Odefa, who was suspended by the party’s Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on September 11, was accused of engaging in various anti-party activities. The suspension was upheld by the Federal High Court in Abakaliki on November 29, in case No: FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.

On Wednesday, during a press conference in Onicha, Onyeka Ovuta, a spokesperson for the ward, officially announced Odefa’s expulsion. He confirmed that the decision followed a recommendation by the party’s disciplinary committee, which had validated the allegations against Odefa.

“Odefa’s expulsion follows the findings and recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee of the Oguduokwor Ward and is in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution,” Ovuta stated.

He further explained that on December 11, 2024, the executive committee of the ward unanimously approved Odefa’s expulsion after reviewing the committee’s report.

“This decision is in accordance with Sections 58(1) and 59(1) of the PDP constitution. As of now, Chief Ali Odefa is no longer a member of our party,” Ovuta added.
