The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has called on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to use the party’s recent successes in Edo and Ondo States as a blueprint to reclaim Oyo State from Governor Seyi Makinde.
Adelabu made this appeal during a visit to the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja, where he was joined by Oyo State APC executives and lawmakers.
Reflecting on the party’s past defeats in Oyo, Adelabu attributed the losses to internal divisions and assured the APC leadership that unity has now been restored within the state chapter.
“He emphasized that Oyo APC is determined to win future elections by consolidating its grassroots support.
“Oyo APC is no longer divided. For the first time since the last elections, we are speaking with one voice.
“Our past losses were not due to a lack of popularity but because of disunity. A divided house cannot stand, and we have learned from that,” he said.
Adelabu also urged Ganduje to support the state chairman in replicating the national leadership’s success, noting that Oyo APC is poised to reclaim governance in the state.
He expressed confidence in the party’s grassroots strength and praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership.
In response, Ganduje commended Oyo APC for resolving its internal conflicts and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to regaining control in the state.
He proposed organizing a large stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan to showcase unity and strengthen the party’s position against the opposition.
“Oyo State is central to our strategy for party unity and dominance. We are encouraged by the progress in resolving the crisis, but consistent grassroots engagement is key.
“Our focus for the 2027 elections includes reclaiming all lost House of Representatives seats,” Ganduje said.
He also emphasized the importance of functional party offices at all levels to maintain cohesion and intimidate opponents ahead of future elections.
