According to the Gombe police command, a 27-year-old male has been taken into custody for raping a five-year-old girl in the Pindiga hamlet of Akko LGA.
While parading the suspect and others in Gombe on Tuesday, Buhari Abdullahi, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this information.
Abdullahi revealed that the suspect reportedly committed the crime in his parlour after luring the victim there.
He clarified that after the girl was brought to the hospital for medical attention, the doctor verified that she had been sexually assaulted.
According to him, the suspect was reported to the Pingiga police station on December 15 at approximately 8.30 a.m.
The five-year-old was reportedly raped by the suspect (names omitted), he claimed, after being persuaded to his house.
“But after the complaint was received, the aforementioned suspect was taken into custody, and the victim was taken to the cottage hospital for medical attention and a doctor’s confirmation,” he stated.
According to Mr. Abdullahi, the suspect confessed to the alleged crime throughout the inquiry and will face charges in court.
In addition, the command spokesperson presented 15 other suspects for a variety of offences, including possession of counterfeit Naira notes, armed robbery, and criminal conspiracy.
Mr. Abdullahi reiterated the command’s resolve to address Gombe’s crime problem.
