In a strategic effort to enhance cybersecurity across Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in partnership with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), recently hosted a webinar focused on improving Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) adoption in the country.
DNSSEC, a set of protocols developed by ICANN, is designed to bolster the security of the Domain Name System (DNS), often referred to as the internet’s “phonebook,” which translates domain names into IP addresses for seamless online communication.
The event aimed to promote DNSSEC validation and increase public awareness of its benefits. Organizers have set an ambitious goal of achieving at least 50% DNSSEC validation in Nigeria by the end of 2024.
The initiative reflects a growing commitment to safeguarding the country’s digital ecosystem against potential threats.
