Teenager arrested in New Mexico for alleged family homicide

A 16-year-old boy in New Mexico has been arrested in connection with the alleged killing of four family members, according to authorities.

In a statement, New Mexico State Police revealed that the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call early Saturday morning from a male teenager who admitted to killing his family.

When deputies arrived at the residence in Belen, the suspect emerged from the house with his hands raised and appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

Upon entering the home, officers discovered the bodies of 42-year-old Leonardo Leyva, 35-year-old Adriana Bencomo, 16-year-old Adrian Leyva, and 14-year-old Alexander Leyva.

All victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A handgun was found on the kitchen table, police reported.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic incident as the community grapples with the shocking loss.
