The Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Ambrose Owuru, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party, seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Describing the case as frivolous and without merit, the court imposed a N5 million fine on Owuru for wasting its time and resources.
Appearing in court dressed as a lawyer in a wig and gown, Owuru was instructed to remove the attire before presenting his arguments. Despite his presentation, the judges found his claims unconvincing, noting that similar cases filed by him in the past had been repeatedly dismissed.
President Tinubu’s lawyer, Bode Olanipekun, criticized Owuru’s persistent legal actions, calling them baseless and poorly executed.
The Supreme Court also issued a warning to Owuru, barring him from filing further frivolous lawsuits and reaffirming its stance against the misuse of the judicial system.
