The Federal Government has announced a free train service across the country from December 20, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of high transportation costs during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The briefing followed the Federal Executive Council meeting, chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
In addition to the transportation update, the Minister revealed that the cabinet would take a break for the holiday season, starting December 18, 2024, and resuming official duties on January 6, 2025.
This measure is part of the government’s broader efforts to provide relief to citizens during the festive season, ensuring affordable travel options, ease economic hardship and supporting the holiday spirit.
