Nigerian army foils robbery, rescues kidnap victims in Taraba

The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to combat crime in Taraba State, successfully apprehending a robbery suspect and freeing three kidnapped victims during recent operations.

Operating under Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), the Brigade reported significant breakthroughs, including the recovery of weapons and ammunition.

In a statement released on Sunday by Acting Assistant Public Relations Officer Captain Oni Olubodunde, the operations were described as part of ongoing measures to ensure peace and security in the state.

One operation took place along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, where troops disrupted a robbery in progress near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town.

Their swift intervention led to the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was allegedly carrying a locally made pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

In another mission on December 13, soldiers responded to a distress call from Manzala Village in Yoro Local Government Area about bandit activities.

They successfully rescued three abducted individuals, who have since been reunited with their families.

The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their courage and professionalism.

He encouraged the public to support security agencies by providing timely information on criminal activities and assured the Army’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property in Taraba and beyond.
