A tragic shooting occurred at a well-known lounge in Benin City, resulting in the death of a male guest and gunshot injuries to his girlfriend.
According to a source, the deceased’s body has been moved to a mortuary, while the injured girlfriend was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was reportedly planning to move into his own house by the end of December.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, with conflicting accounts emerging.
One version suggests the shooting stemmed from a disagreement between the victim and another guest after he accidentally spilt a drink.
Despite apologizing, the other guest allegedly left the lounge and returned with armed accomplices.
The victim was ambushed and shot inside his white Lexus SUV, while a stray bullet struck his girlfriend in the leg.
Another account speculates the attack could be linked to a failed business deal, with claims the deceased may have breached an agreement with associates.
The aftermath of the incident saw significant damage to the lounge’s glass doors and other property.
Police officers were present at the scene, and the victim’s vehicle was towed away.
Contrary to earlier reports, the Edo State Police Command clarified that both victims were alive and receiving medical treatment.
Command spokesperson SP Moses Iyamu confirmed officers responded to a distress call about gunfire at the Raptor Club around 3 a.m. Upon arrival, the perpetrators fled, leaving behind a pump-action gun and two spent shells.
Iyamu stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.
