The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced a Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) awareness webinar scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. WAT.
In a notice posted on its verified social media account on December 9, 2024, the NCC revealed that the virtual event is being organized in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
According to the Commission, the webinar aims to promote DNSSEC validation across Nigeria and achieve a 50% validation rate by the first quarter of 2025.
The programme is part of efforts to enhance internet security and ensure greater awareness of DNSSEC protocols by the end of the year.
The event will feature key speakers, including Babagana Digima, Head of New Media and Information Security at the NCC; Dr. Ibiso Kingsley-George, Head of the Internet Governance Unit at NCC; and Yazid Akanho, Technical Engagement Manager for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at ICANN.
