JUST IN: Police deploy officers to Ministry of Justice ahead of #freeDeleFarotimi protest

Must read

The Nigeria Police Force has stationed operatives at the Ministry of Justice in Abuja in preparation for the #FreeDeleFarotimi protest.

The demonstration is being organized by activists rallying in support of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi, who is facing legal charges over allegations of defaming prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Afe Babalola.

Farotimi, known for his outspoken criticism of Nigeria’s judicial system, is accused of making defamatory remarks against Babalola in his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.

The protests, spearheaded by the Take It Back Movement, aim to highlight what they describe as an unjust prosecution.

Despite warnings from law enforcement, organizers have pledged to hold rallies in multiple locations, including Abuja, Lagos, Ekiti, London, and Toronto.

In response, police presence has been heightened at key locations, particularly in Abuja, where security forces are on alert for potential disruptions.

While protesters have yet to gather at the Ministry of Justice, authorities remain vigilant and prepared to handle any developments.
