Must read

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).

The announcement, made in a statement on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, takes effect immediately.

The appointment follows the pre-retirement leave of Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, the outgoing AGF.

According to the statement, the transition aims to ensure continuity in managing Nigeria’s treasury and to support the ongoing implementation of the administration’s treasury reforms.

Ogunjimi, a seasoned financial expert with over three decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, is a senior career civil servant and the highest-ranking director in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

He has held key roles, including Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A highly qualified professional, Ogunjimi holds certifications as a chartered accountant, fraud examiner, stockbroker, and security and investment specialist.

His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s abilities, emphasizing the critical role of the Accountant General’s office in treasury operations.

“Mr. Ogunjimi’s extensive expertise and proven competence will ensure the office continues to function effectively as we pursue our economic reforms,” he stated.

The president also praised Dr. Madein for her dedication and service to the nation. She is set to officially retire on March 7, 2025, upon reaching the statutory retirement age for civil servants.
