On Monday, unidentified individuals stormed the Edo State High Court in Benin, attempting to disrupt proceedings related to the contested September 21 governorship election.
The election, won by Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is being challenged by seven opposition parties.
During a pre-hearing session, supporters of these opposition groups were reportedly attacked by the assailants outside the courtroom.
In response, security personnel swiftly intervened, securing the court premises by blocking the entrance and erecting a roadblock on the approach to the courthouse to prevent further violence.
