Troops launch successful offensive against terrorists in Zamfara, neutralize dozens

In a joint operation, troops from the 1 Brigade of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, alongside the Operation Forest Yinzuya Multi-Sector Task Force (MST) and Hybrid Forces, carried out a coordinated offensive in the Yankuzo area of Tsafe Local Government, Zamfara State.

The operation targeted terrorist hideouts in the Asola Hills, following weeks of intelligence reports on their activities in the region.

According to sources, the offensive began with heavy artillery fire, followed by close air support that allowed the troops to advance toward the hideouts.

During the engagement, the troops encountered heavily armed terrorists, neutralizing some and forcing others to flee northward on motorcycles.

Supported by airstrikes, the combined forces pursued the fleeing insurgents, destroying their camps and key support structures at the base of the Asola Hills.

A military source confirmed that an unspecified number of terrorists were eliminated, with others targeted during airstrikes as they attempted to escape with stolen cattle.

The operation also led to the recovery of three abandoned motorcycles.

The operation, which concluded around 4:45 p.m., was successful and without casualties. Troops returned to base after a comprehensive debriefing.

This offensive is part of heightened efforts by security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace to Zamfara State.
