President Bola Tinubu has appointed new leaders for several key institutions, including the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD).
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor, was named Executive Secretary of the NUC.
Salisu Shehu, an expert in educational and human psychology, will now serve as the Executive Secretary of the NERDC, while Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri has been appointed as the National Coordinator of NEPAD.
Additionally, President Tinubu renewed the tenure of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).
Shinkafi, originally appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, has been credited with driving reforms in the solid minerals sector.
However, the previously announced appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani to the SMDF/PAGMI role was rescinded. Onanuga clarified that there is no vacancy for that position.
