The incident reportedly occurred due to prolonged exposure of stored chemicals to heat, causing an explosion at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday.

The location of the incident was identified as 291 Old Abeokuta Motor Road, opposite Vetland Secondary School, Agege, Lagos.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident and revealed that the chemicals were stored in kegs of varying sizes and left in an open space.
