A youth activist of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Abubakar Sadick Alhassan, has called on all political parties in Ghana to rally behind the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming elections, Mr Alhassan emphasized the need for a united front to “rescue Ghana” from what he described as the misrule of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The current government has failed to deliver on its promises to Ghanaians, leaving the nation in economic and social disarray,” Mr Alhassan stated.
He further described Mahama as a leader with “vision, experience, and capacity” to reset the country’s development trajectory and lead it toward a brighter future.
The NDC activist appealed to leaders of all opposition political parties, including Alan Kyerematen, Christian Kwabena Andrews, Hassan Ayariga, and others, to set aside their differences and support Mahama’s bid for the presidency.
He argued that Mahama is a “tested and trusted leader” with a proven track record of achievements in areas such as education, healthcare, and economic development during his previous tenure as President.
“Mahama’s leadership style is marked by transparency, accountability, and inclusivity,” Mr. Alhassan said. “He is the ideal candidate to unite the nation and restore its lost glory.”
He criticized the NPP government for what he termed its “dismal record” over the past eight years, citing high unemployment, corruption, and economic stagnation as evidence of its failures.
“Ghanaians are crying out for change,” he said, adding that Mahama is the only candidate capable of delivering the change the country urgently needs.
He assured Ghanaians that Mahama’s leadership would prioritize good governance, economic development, and social justice while fostering collaboration with other political parties and stakeholders.
“Together, we can build a brighter future for our country and restore its dignity on the global stage,” Mr. Alhassan concluded.
He ended his remarks with a call for divine blessings on the country and the NDC’s flagbearer: “God bless our Motherland Ghana and the incoming president.”
