Wike speaks on constructing roads for EFCC, clarifies new project

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his dedication to improving infrastructure in Abuja by constructing access roads.

This commitment was highlighted on Thursday, December 5, 2024, when Wike inaugurated the construction of a road leading to the new Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) academy in Giri District, Abuja.

During the ceremony, Wike emphasized the importance of access roads in fostering real estate development, easing transportation of agricultural goods to markets, and reducing congestion in Abuja’s city centre.

He pointed out that the absence of such roads had hindered development in certain areas of the FCT.

“With this access road, the development will follow, and the city centre will be less crowded,” Wike stated, adding that the road project was not exclusive to the EFCC but part of a broader effort to expand infrastructure in the FCT.

He explained that while the EFCC academy would benefit from the project, the initiative aimed to open up the region for broader economic and community growth.

“This road is for the community as well. It will enable housing development and allow farmers to transport their produce to the city,” Wike clarified, dismissing claims that the road was solely for the EFCC.

The minister expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the FCT’s infrastructure projects and ensuring adequate funding for their execution.

He also urged the contractor to complete the project on schedule, noting that it was slated for commissioning in May 2025, coinciding with the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.
