Must read

Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the convoy of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas’ family on Thursday along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area, leaving one injured.

The attackers ambushed the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, and sister, Atsi Kefas, during their journey through a region increasingly threatened by banditry.

According to intelligence sources, the situation took a tragic turn when a police escort accidentally shot Atsi Kefas while attempting to fend off the assailants.

Military troops reportedly responded swiftly to the distress call, rescuing the victims and evacuating them via air ambulance.

Governor Kefas’ mother and sister were flown to safety, while Atsi Kefas, injured in the incident, was hospitalized. Her current condition has not been disclosed.

Security operatives later recovered the family’s vehicle, along with an empty magazine and personal belongings, at the scene. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, as authorities work to address the surge in insecurity in the area.
