2027 Presidential election: APC reacts as Jonathan’s campaign posters flood Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disassociated itself from a group called Team New Nigeria (TNN), which recently plastered Kano with posters promoting former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The APC clarified that TNN is not affiliated with the party and that its members are not recognized at any level within the organization.

This statement follows TNN’s announcement five days earlier about breaking away from the APC to establish a new political party. TNN’s National President, Modibbo Farakwai, claimed the group aims to garner support from at least 26 million voters nationwide.

On Thursday, posters suggesting Jonathan’s potential 2027 presidential run appeared across Kano, fueling speculation about his return to politics.

In response, Nze Chidi Duru, APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, criticized the move, emphasizing that Jonathan is not a member of the APC.

He dismissed the TNN as an unrecognized group, stating, “If they were legitimate members of the APC, they would understand that former President Goodluck Jonathan does not belong to the party.”
