Mahama pledges to transform Agbogbloshie Market into modern trade hub

The Head of Communications for former President John Dramani Mahama and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Lady Obuobia Opoku-Darko, has assured Ghanaians that Mahama will transform the Agbogbloshie Market into a world-class trading center for the West African sub-region.

Speaking during an engagement, Lady Obuobia criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for demolishing the market and displacing traders who relied on the site for their livelihood.

She lamented that despite promises to build an ultra-modern market, the location has been left abandoned for years, now serving as a haven for rodents and reptiles.

“The demolition was carried out with grand promises from Bawumia and President Nana Addo to construct a market that would even surpass Mahama’s iconic Kejetia Market. But to date, the site remains neglected,” she said.

Lady Obuobia reaffirmed Mahama’s commitment to revitalizing the Agbogbloshie Market, stating that under his leadership, the area will be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility akin to the World Trade Center in New York, turning it into a hub for commerce and development in the region.

“John Dramani Mahama will deliver on his promise, ensuring Agbogbloshie becomes a beacon of modern trade in West Africa,” she added.

The transformation of the market, she noted, is part of Mahama’s broader vision to improve the lives of Ghanaians and drive economic growth through infrastructural development.
