Four members of the House of Representatives elected under the Labour Party (LP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was announced on Thursday during a plenary session by the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen.
The lawmakers include Chinedu Okere from Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency in Imo State, Mathew Donatus from Kaura Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Akiba Bassey from Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Constituency in Cross River State, and Esosa Iyawe from Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State.
AFRIPOST reports that their decision to join the APC signal a continued realignment of political loyalties within the National Assembly as the ruling party solidifies its influence.
