The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 19-year-old, Abu Umar, for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of a woman and her two children in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
During a press conference held in Ilorin, the state capital, the commandant, Umar Mohammed, disclosed that the suspect is accused of planning the November 7 abduction of Isiaka Halimah and her sons, Kabir and Hassan, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo.
Mohammed revealed that the suspect, who had previously worked for the victims’ family, was tracked down after the kidnappers used his phone number to contact the family.
“Halimah has since been released, but the two children are still being held captive,” Mohammed said, emphasizing that the arrest followed extensive intelligence efforts.
He also reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to addressing criminal activities and ensuring public safety. The command, he noted, is collaborating with other security agencies to secure the release of the abducted children.
