The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural group, has dismissed Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa, labeling him a mere “content creator” who cannot be taken seriously.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, November 30, the group’s Vice President, Damian Okeke-Ogene, expressed skepticism about Ekpa’s activities, suggesting that his self-proclaimed status as a content creator aligns more with entertainment than activism.
“Simon Ekpa says he is a content creator, so how can we take him seriously? He should go to Nollywood and deceive people there,” Okeke-Ogene stated.
“We view Simon Ekpa as a Nollywood figure, as he claims, and content creators belong in Nollywood.”
The remarks come in the wake of Ekpa’s recent arrest by Finnish police on allegations of inciting violence and engaging in terrorism through his social media platforms. Authorities in Finland have confirmed that Ekpa will face charges in 2025.
However, Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s dismissal of Ekpa showed the group’s stance against his methods and rhetoric, emphasizing their disapproval of his influence on the Biafran agitation.
