Edith Uduma, a former police inspector in Edo State, has come forward to share her side of the story regarding her dismissal from the police force.
AFRIPOST had reported that Uduma was dismissed from the police force after exposing a colleague, Sergeant Abraham, who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl in police custody.
According to Uduma, her dismissal was unjust and she’s calling for a fair hearing.
She claims that the Edo State Police Command’s allegations against her are false, specifically the claim that she and her husband conspired to extort ₦1 million from Abraham.
Uduma explains that she never extorted money from Abraham and that her actions were misinterpreted.
She says that when Abraham offered her ₦45,000, she refused and, instead, sarcastically told him to bring ₦1 million in cash to the station, knowing he couldn’t afford it.
The former police inspector is now seeking justice and claims that her dismissal was orchestrated because she lacks influential connections. Uduma’s husband was also demoted to the rank of Sergeant.
A human rights group, Take It Back Movement, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over Uduma’s dismissal, calling it unjust.
