Police nab four robbery suspects in Abuja

Must read

Police operatives recently apprehended four suspected armed robbers during a raid at the Dei-Dei timber shed in Abuja.

Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced the arrests in a statement to journalists.

The operation, carried out by detectives from the Dei-Dei ‘B’ Division, was part of a larger crackdown on criminal hideouts ordered by the command.

Disu explained that the raid was based on credible intelligence, which led to the successful capture of the suspects identified as Nura Halilu, Salim Mohammed, Saifullahi Usman, and Usman Mohammed.

Reports indicate that the police seized various items during the operation, including a locally crafted firearm, cartridges, four knives, counterfeit currency, and a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp.

The commissioner revealed that investigations have linked the hideout to the suspects’ gang leader, who remains at large.

The location was also reportedly a hub for drug trafficking, stolen phones, and other illegal activities.

Disu added that one of the suspects, Ismail Tasiu, also known as “Old School,” admitted to being involved in criminal operations in the area for over a decade.

Another suspect, Nura Halilu, confessed to being part of a robbery and drug ring led by a fugitive named Murtala.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody and will be prosecuted according to the law.
