President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended French President Emmanuel Macron for his dedication to Africa and his efforts to foster stronger ties with the continent.

Speaking during a state dinner at the Palais des Elysée in Paris on Thursday, Tinubu expressed optimism that the cordial relationship between Nigeria and France would yield significant benefits for Africa.

Accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, top Nigerian officials, and prominent business leaders, including Aliko Dangote, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, and Tony Elumelu, the Nigerian President described the event as a symbol of enduring friendship between the two nations.

“Your warmth, commitment, and foresight in Africa are remarkable,” Tinubu told Macron.

“France’s efforts to promote freedom, democracy, and development are inspiring, and together, we must build a continent that resonates for its people.”

Tinubu also emphasized that Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms would positively impact Africa, stating, “We have embarked on strong reforms, and there is no looking back.

It is in the interest of the entire continent that we move forward with commitment and optimism.”

Macron, in his remarks, recognized Nigeria’s pivotal role as a leader in Africa, praising the country’s resilience and intellectual contributions.

He highlighted global figures like Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka and musician Femi Kuti as examples of Nigeria’s talent.

“Nigeria is a formidable country with exceptional individuals and immense potential.

“President Tinubu’s transformation of Lagos is a model, and now he is on a mission to uplift the entire nation,” Macron said.

The French leader also underlined the active presence of French investors in Nigeria, particularly in oil, gas, construction, and food security, while encouraging collaboration in emerging sectors like solid minerals, technology, and the film industry.

As the evening concluded, both leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening the Nigeria-France partnership for mutual benefit and to advancing Africa’s development on the global stage.
