Benue APC crisis: Gov Alia faction to appeal Court ruling

Must read

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to challenge a High Court judgment that ruled on a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the dissolved State Executive Committee led by former chairman Austin Agada.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 28, 2024, the party’s Unified Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision delivered by Justice Kume.

He described the judgment as “legally unjustified” and disclosed that the party’s legal team had been instructed to file an appeal and seek a stay of execution.

“We have serious concerns about the judgment and are confident that the Court of Appeal will ensure justice is served,” Omale stated.

While reaffirming the party’s commitment to the rule of law, Omale urged APC members to remain calm and continue their political activities without concern, emphasizing that the status quo remains until the appellate court renders its verdict.

“Our committee will work diligently within the confines of the law as we exercise our constitutional right to appeal and comply with all court orders,” he added.

The APC leadership in Benue has reiterated its intention to pursue the matter further in the Court of Appeal to seek redress.
