APC lashes Adeleke, says “your administration wasteful”

Must read

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, labeling it “wasteful” and claiming that the state has not seen adequate returns on the significant federal allocations it has received.

During a press briefing in Osogbo on Thursday, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi argued that although the state received N385 billion between January 2023 and September 2024, there has been little to show in terms of impactful projects or economic development.

Olabisi highlighted the state’s financial inflow, which included N4.3 billion in UBEC grants and N1.3 billion in TETFUND grants for education infrastructure, as well as federal allocations and internally generated revenue (IGR).

He noted that these funds, which exclude federation allocations, have increased since the removal of fuel subsidies. Despite this, he claimed that the state government has focused more on increasing the budget for the governor’s office, which saw a 170% performance increase, while neglecting key sectors.

The APC spokesperson pointed out that in 2022, Osun State received N73 billion in federal allocation before debt deductions, compared to N153 billion in September 2024—well above the N99 billion initially projected for the year.

However, a coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) has commended Governor Adeleke, praising his administration for credible service delivery.

Spokesperson for the coalition, Comrade Declan Ihekaire, shared the results of a week-long assessment of the state, which included visits to towns such as Ife, Ede, Ilesa, Osogbo, and Ifon Osun. Ihekaire highlighted that their interactions with residents and inspection of government projects revealed significant improvements in infrastructure, human development, and governance under Governor Adeleke.

He added, “Our evaluation shows that Governor Adeleke’s achievements in two years surpass those of his predecessor, and his administration is recognized for being people-friendly and responsive to citizens’ needs.”
