Alleged cybercrime: FG arraigns 130 foreigners, others

The Federal Government is set to arraign 130 individuals on Friday, including 113 foreign nationals—primarily of Chinese and Malaysian descent (87 men and 26 women)—alongside 17 Nigerian accomplices (4 men and 13 women).

They face charges related to cybercrime, hacking, and activities deemed a threat to national security.

The arrests followed a coordinated raid by the Nigeria Police Force at a property in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja.

According to reports, the suspects allegedly used advanced computer systems and other devices to carry out their criminal operations.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, November 3, 2024, was led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Benneth Igweh of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.

Officers from the Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) participated in the raid.

The suspects are expected to appear before Justice Ekerete Akpan of the Federal High Court for their arraignment.
