A prominet All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and experienced public administrator, Hon. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, has expressed concerns over speculations linking Seyi Tinubu to a potential endorsement for the 2027 Lagos governorship race.
Hon. Animashaun-Ajiboye described the alleged endorsement as a calculated attempt to undermine the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on the issue, she stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working tirelessly with his strategic team to deliver impactful governance and inclusive leadership for all Nigerians. The endorsement campaign is nothing more than youthful exuberance, driven by self-interest, and a deliberate attempt to create unnecessary distractions.”
She further clarified that the Lagos APC has officially distanced itself from the rumored endorsement, reiterating that the 2027 governorship election is not currently on its agenda. Instead, the party is focused on the upcoming Congress and Local Government Elections slated for 2025.
Hon. Animashaun-Ajiboye called for a shift in focus, highlighting the need for a selfless and visionary leader in Lagos.
She stated, “Lagos deserves a younger, truly Lagosian leader who understands the struggles of the poor, the challenges faced by the middle class, the aspirations of the business community, and the hopes of those seeking progress and prosperity for the state.”
She urged APC members to prioritize unity and progress, emphasizing the importance of aligning efforts with President Tinubu’s governance agenda.
